Noda Yojiro is a Japanese singer-songwriter and actor from Tokyo. He is in charge of vocals, guitar, and keyboards for the rock band RADWIMPS and writes and composes most of the songs. The name he uses for his solo project is "Illion."
He attended Shunko Kindergarten but moved to Nashville, Tennessee, USA, with three months left to graduate. He returned to Japan at the age of 10 and moved to Sakuragaoka Elementary School in Setagaya Ward. After graduating from high school, he entered the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University, but dropped out.
Noda's solo project, Illion, was first announced in November 2012. He began the solo career to perform overseas - a goal his band, Radwimps, did not share. His debut album, Ubu, was released in Japan and Europe, first on February 25, 2013, in the United Kingdom. The album was promoted with two singles, "Brain Drain" in January 2013, which received a 24-hour exclusive live music video, and "Maharoba," which was released in February 2013.
In 2015, Noda made his debut as an actor in the film "Pieta in the Toilet," which he starred in as the main character Hiroshi. For the film he got awarded the 39th Japan Academy Prize Rookie Award and the 70th Mainichi Movie Concours Sponichi Grand Prix Rookie Award. Radwimps also performed the theme song for the film, entitled "Picnic" (ピクニック?).
In May, Noda debuted as an author with Rarirure-ron, a book of essays written while Radwimps were on their Grand Prix 2014 Jikkyo Namachukei tour of Japan.
