Jang Yi Jung, formerly known as J.Pearl and currently known as El Capitxn, is a South Korean singer, dancer, producer and former member of HISTORY. Before debuting, he appeared in "Star Audition: The Great Birth 2" where Lee Sun Hee selected him to join her team.
He made his debut in 2013 as HISTORY's main vocalist and maknae with the single album "Dreamer" featuring narration of fellow labelmate IU. He also appeared in IU's song "Friday" and as the narrator in Meloday Day's song "Oh, My Guy". Unfortunately, after several music releases and comebacks, LOEN Entertainment began analyzing if the group was worth keeping together.
In 2017, with most of the members already enlisted in their mandatory military services or about to do so, the agency announced the group will be disbanding and each member will focus on individual activities. After the group was disbanded, he joined the team of composers Devine Channel under the stage name J.Pearl.
He was the co-leader of the producer team VENDORS which was initially formed alongside former HISTORY groupmate Kim Jae Ho (now known as Nano) before moving to BigHit Entertainment as a full-time producer. He works under the stage name EL CAPITXN and has arranged or composed songs for artists such as Heize or Sunmi.
